Summary
Leaving Shawfield Juniors in Scotland in January 1957 to sign for Leicester, he made his international debut for Scotland just six years later. He went on to join Arsenal the following year, with the £80,000 transfer fee proving to be money well-spent as McLintock shone first in midfield and then in defence.

An Arsenal star for nine years, the playing career of Frank McLintock reached its zenith during the 1970-71 season. With Arsenal becoming the third successive English club to win the Fairs' Cup, beating Anderlecht in May 1970

12 months later, Bertie Mee's Gunners completed the coveted league and FA Cup double. In an ironic twist of fate Arsenal, led by captain and centre-back Frank McLintock, first clinched the club's eighth league title by beating North London neighbours Spurs, the Gunners made the short journey to Wembley Stadium, to come from behind to defeat Liverpool 2-1 after extra time to win the cup.

Duly presented with the FA Cup, (and having been named the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year) Frank was soon back in the limelight for the home international clash with England. That day at Wembley, however, saw Frank on the losing side as he won his ninth and last cap for Scotland.

Finally hanging up his boots in the summer of 1976 the veteran centre-back ended his playing career at Queens Park Rangers, having joined the Loftus Road outfit in June 1973.

Displaying impeccable form at the heart of a stylish team, in McLintock's last season QPR took runners-up spot in the old first division. Later in charge of his old club Leicester City, Frank McLintock MBE also managed Brentford before becoming a football pundit.

Frank has various business interests with shops and a security company. He appears weekly on Sky TV as a senior football pundit alongside Rodney Marsh and George Best.
