Dermot Gallagher was the only referee who had been on the Premiership circuit since its very beginning. Gallagher was born in Dublin the day after Ireland’s famous 1-1 draw with England in Draymount Park and was named after Dermot Curtis, the Irish player who scored the goal that day. First appointed to the Football League as a linesman at 28, Gallagher outlasted all his contemporaries. He has refereed on every continent except Australia, covered virtually every ground in the league - all this without, he says, a serious falling out with anyone! After retiring he is now available for dinners, media and refereeing.
