Kriss Akabusi

Kriss Akabusi started his career in Her Majesty’s forces where he spent 9 years in the physical training corps. It was during this time that Kriss developed his athletic career, which led to major Olympic and world-class success. He is now a world-class motivational speaker. With his enthusiasm, his powerful messages and his vivacious character, Kriss Akabusi captivates his audience often beyond the highest of expectations. Kriss is famous for his achievements in Athletics where his greatest individual triumph was his Gold Medal in the 1990 European Championships when he also beat David Hemery's 22-year-old British Record.

He began his International career in 1983 as a member of the 4x400 metre relay squad and will probably always be remembered for helping Britain clinch the Gold and beat the Americans in the World Championships 4x400 metre relay in Tokyo in 1991. After his retirement from top athletics almost 10 years ago Kriss channelled his energies into public speaking. Drawing from his wealth of experience as a world-class athlete and TV presenter he is now considered to be one of the country’s top business motivational speakers.

Kriss was born in London in 1958 to Nigerian parents and is married to Monika with whom he has two children, Ashanti and Shakira. When not speaking motivationally, Kriss can be found teeing off at his local golf club and still participates in various sports such as basketball, tennis and football.

In 1992 Kriss was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in her Birthday Honours List in recognition of his services to the country through athletics.
