Kriss Akabusi started his career in Her Majesty’s forces where he spent 9 years in the physical training corps. He began his International career in 1983 as a member of the 4x400 metre relay squad and will probably always be remembered for helping Britain clinch the Gold and beat the Americans in the World Championships 4x400 metre relay in Tokyo in 1991. After his retirement from top athletics almost 10 years ago Kriss channelled his energies into public speaking. Kriss was born in London in 1958 to Nigerian parents and is married to Monika with whom he has two children, Ashanti and Shakira. When not speaking motivationally, Kriss can be found teeing off at his local golf club and still participates in various sports such as basketball, tennis and football.

In 1992 Kriss was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in her Birthday Honours List in recognition of his services to the country through athletics.
