Billy Beaumont CBE
Billy was born in Preston in 1952 his rugby career started with Fylde in 1970. As a player he captained England to their first Grand slam in 1980 and captained the British Lions in 1980. His rugby career finished due to injury in 1982. Billy then became a team captain on BBC Television’s “A Question of sport” where he became one of the longest serving team captain with over 300 appearances. Bill is now chairman of the Rugby Football Union
