Dean Richards has an impressive career as a player as well as a coach his first class rugby career started with Leicester in 1982 and captained the team for seasons in the 1990’s. During his club career he won the cup three times and the league twice. For the season 1990/1991 he was voted Whitbread’s Rugby world player of the year. In 1997 he led Leicester to their first Heineken Cup final in 1997 against Brive played at the old Cardiff Arms Park sadly for him his team lost to Brive 28-9. Internationally Richards was capped for England schools in 1981 and played for the Barbarians in 1983 and then was selected for the England under 23 tour of Romania. Against Ireland in 1986 he received his first cap scoring 2 tries. In the 1990’s he was regular choice for the England Scrum and played also for the British Lions on their 1989 and 1993 tours. He played for England in the 1987, 1991 and 1995 World Cups. Richards, who won 48 caps for England, began his coaching career at Leicester, winning four Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups at the club where he spent 15 years as a player.

He is set to team up with former Tigers colleague John Wells at Newcastle Falcons for the 2012-2013 season.

Richards took over at Harlequins in 2005 when they were in the second tier and led them straight back into the Premiership and Heineken Cup quarter finals.

He is an amusing and entertaining speaker who can also speak to educate and motivate a workforce and of course there is the Subject of Bloodgate!!!
